  This small intervention in a traditional Siheyuan house offers accessibility not only to an existing basement, but also to the history of the place itself. New architectural interventions often seem to translate the structural and formal logic of the existing structure yet frame it with a contrasting approach and a consistent contemporary abstraction. Lines not only connect interior and exterior spaces, but also new and old, public and private areas of the guest house. BBK35 is a hospitality project located in a traditional Chinese courtyard house in BaBoukon Hutong, Beijing. Siheyuan is a fundamental component of traditional Chinese building typologies. It grows and transforms into variety ways that evolved before and after Modern China Revolution. It reflects the typical Chinese pattern and hierarchy level of thought and theory of yin and yang. Key elements of Five Phases were applied to create a fiction of the traditional family atmosphere in the space. It is the place of mixture of historical remains and contemporary culture.
